Hitting the slopes in style!

So the 2015/16 ski season is coming to an end, the closing parties have started and the snow is starting to pour off the mountain as the temperatures begin to rise.
You are never guaranteed glorious weather when you holiday up a 2100ft mountain but April usually guarantees the odd gorgeous bout of sunshine and fresh snow combined! Here's a quick account of my birthday week in Tignes & Val D'Isere!

The good thing about France is you don't necessarily have to fly; you can drive, take the bus - guaranteed to be more enjoyable when accompanied with 40 of your uni pals, suitably merry on Genepe before you've reached Dover! Or, like us, you can take the Eurostar, straight out of Central London and wake up fresh as a daisy in the beautiful French Alps! Okay, so maybe it's not the best night's sleep I've ever had, but it is much easier with your own skis/boards. There's something kind of magical about the night time ski train! Falling asleep in London and waking up in a postcard town.
Location is everything when skiing. You want to be close enough to the slopes to not be feeling as though you've signed up for a trek to the North Pole every morning. Near to the bars so you can make it home from Apres in your ski boots and finally, somewhere that gives gorgeous panoramic views of your surroundings. Hotel Les Campanules was our beautiful home for the week.
The warmest, lovingly homely, chocolate box hotel in the centre of Tignes. The food, the spa, the decor - all stunning. I honestly can not pick a highlight from this holiday, it really was fantastic.If you were following my snapchat story (Lindsjane4) while I was away, you'll have seen for yourself the menu was to die for! Here's a few photos of our week;

So you've booked your transport, chosen a beautiful hotel and now you need to look stylish for your week on the slopes! I've done a couple of ski seasons, and one thing I've learnt is that ski chic is casual and you never want to be over dressed. Dress for the vibe; chilled out and effortless! Key items to pack in order to achieve this look: Statement jewelry, casual is transformed with a flash of something sparkly around your neck! Loose fitting knitwear and shirts - nothing says cool like the boyfriend slouch trend, (also excellent for the amount of food consumed at dinner!) A dungaree dress and some skinny jeans are also ideal. - As I've mentioned in previous posts dungarees are back, they are a dream to wear, I got the below dress in Primark for £12! Finally a couple of cute skirts and tights are a smart winter look perfect for an evening in the mountain restaurants and bars.
Find way's to recycle parts of your outfit throughout the week, I wore the same Chelsea boots & cross body bag every night and packed just 3 necklaces, choose wisely and they will match everything! - Your outfit's should  flow from brights on the slopes to understated and classic in the evening. Here's my #OOTD's and #OOTN's while in Tignes!;

Check out my instagram for all my outfit details and where you can get all the pieces I'm wearing in the photos!
Finally the skiing! I'm not going to bore you with descriptions of Espace Killy! So here's a load of snaps to illustrate the paradise for me;

So I think that's it! I had the best 23rd Birthday in these mountains with the family! A very special trip made all the more fantastic with the luxury of fine dining, sunshine, late night snow fall, a heated pool on the balcony, skiing home to a sauna & steam before dinner and of course the relaxation of being in such a beautiful environment. There's a lot to be said for a ski holiday.

It's official, daylight saving has begun and Spring is on our doorstep once again! The Sun is out on this lovely Sunday morning, so however you are spending it, why not pick up the new May issues of the premium mags or bag some high street inspo from the weeklies this weekend!
Here's my Top 9! Yes 9.

So let's start with the weeklies:
  1. Look magazine, A firm favourite of any gal obsessed with high street fashion and beauty trends! This week they are featuring a piece on 'Feel good fashion - 102 buys to make you smile!', a round up of April's top beauty trends and a fantastic 30% off celeb fave - Lavish Alice!

  2. Grazia - the grown up older cousin of the other fashion weeklies! This week, read all about 'The casual suit' - workwear has had a makeover for Spring, with gorgeous colour palettes and new shapes to try out, Spring is a great time to revamp your work wardrobe! There's also 25% off at Anthropologie and the mag itself is half price this week at only £1 - bargain!
The next 7 are the May issues of the top glossy publications;
  1. Queen B is on the cover along with a 20% off at H&M gift card when you spend £20! What's not to love about this month's Elle magazine! The front cover also boasts a list of exclusive interviews and pictures with fashion royalty; Karlie Kloss, Lana Del Ray, Liv Tyler, Alber Elbaz, Jourdan Dunn & Lucky Blue Smith. Not to mention the Spring fashion edits - pick your copy up in store now!

  2. Next up; inStyle magazine! This month pick up a copy and get a free beauty guide - '110 best beauty buys'. The team at inStyle have also pulled together 297 of the prettiest pieces within this season's trends and compiled a fabulous swimwear edit for any of you lucky ladies who might be jetting off to the sun early this year!
  3. So what if I now told you, you could pick up inStyle (incl beauty guide) & Marie Claire with a £10 Neals Yard hand cream for just a £5!? Rejoice, budget babes! That's exactly what's on offer this month! Marie Claire also features a fab hair guide and some tips on Spring's hottest denim trends! There's 3 hand creams to collect so if you're a fan of Neal's Yard then do our old trick of making the office peer's Monday morning by bringing in the spare mags once you've bagged all 3 freebies of course!!
  4. Harper's Bazaar - one for the coffee table to make you look super sophisticated if nothing else! This month get a free Divine dark chocolate bar with raspberries! Nothing like a yummy treat to have in your top drawer in the office! Dark chocolate is much better for you than milk and you are far less likely to demolish the whole bar! The mag also has gorgeous imagery from the latest couture fashion shows and interview with cover girl; Daria Werbowy.
  5. Cosmopolitan features a very honest interview with pop princesses; Little Mix, it makes for an interesting read, the stories of young girls thrust in to fame from the Xfactor 5 years ago. Not to mention the stunning portrait imagery of the 4 band members. There's a handy gym workout pull out if you are struggling for motivation in the gym and a smelly page for Dior's latest fragrance Poison Girl - a gorgeous scent for Dior's younger customer - definitely worth checking it out! Cosmo is only a £1 this month too!
  6. Our Queen turns 90 this month and to celebrate, Tatler, have put together a beautiful collectors edition magazine. Even if you aren't a Royal family enthusiast, it features some great imagery and the publication itself makes for a great addition to that sophisticated coffee table we spoke about earlier!
  7. Finally, Kate Moss has made her 37th appearance on the cover of UK Vogue magazine this month! Our mate, Kate styled the shoot herself which is a nod to the Rolling Stone's 'Exhibitionism' which opened on Tuesday at the Saatchi gallery, London. There's a great article on how to define your summer wardrobe with 8 pieces and a free magazine - 'what to want now! - your ultimate Summer shopping guide.'
Phew! Think that's them all! I hope you all find one that you'll enjoy reading this month - remember taking some time out of your busy day to flick through the pages of a magazine or a book is worth it's weight in gold! Happy shopping to those of you snapping up those great discounts - I'll definitely be making use of a few of them!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend gals!

Loyalty Schemes - What's New & What's for You!?

In today's persistent discount culture, customer's loyalty is growing even more valuable to retailers. Great news for us savvy shopaholics - as this has resulted in loyalty scheme rewards being better than ever before!
Last month saw global Etailer, ASOS, launch their first ever loyalty app; ASOS A-list and if you are an ASOS girl or guy you absolutely need it in your life! Check out the 1 min video below on how to earn rewards!;
So here are the facts -

  • 5 points for every £1 spent
  • 500 points earns you a £5 voucher (valid for 6 months)
  • Earning points take you to levels.
  • Levels unlock new exciting rewards & benefits
  • Level 1 - (400 points): Two double-points days, 15% off on your birthday, one free next day delivery, plus additional competitions & offers.
  • Level 2 - (1000 points): All of the benefits from level 1, plus; two further double-points days, another free next day delivery, & advance warning of upcoming sales!
  • Level 3 - (3,000 points): Four triple-points days, three free next day deliveries, 20% off on your birthday & 24 hour early access to Sales - say goodbye to 'out of stock' disappointment on sale days girls!

Okay so the next retailer is the big 'quality' player on the high street, of course it's; Marks & Spencer. The SPARKS card was launched last October and it's quickly becoming as popular as having a Tesco Clubcard! You earn points for EVERYTHING you buy in store or online and with such a vast selection of products from food to underwear, earning points can be pretty easy!

So why do you need one;
  • You'll earn 10 Sparks (points) every time you shop - Regardless of what you spend!
  • 10 Sparks earned for every £1 spent
  • If you write a review on the M&S website on a product you have purchased you'll get 25 Sparks!
  • 50 Sparks if you donate to the 'Shwopping scheme' - Lets be honest we all have clothes we don't wear any longer and are just taking up precious space!
  • So what do all these Sparks get you!? Well like ASOS, it works on a level system. With 3,000 Sparks, members get access to new season previews, while 5,000 Sparks give customers early access to Sales!
  • By the time you reach 14,000 Sparks you'll get invitations to events such as catwalk shows and if you reach 17,000 you will be given access to high-end events such as personalised styling sessions! - Bare in mind David Gandy models the underwear girls!!
  • So not only all of the above, but when you sign up to Sparks you get to choose a charity that M&S will donate to as you earn Sparks.

Finally from the moment you register your card online, you will receive 20% off offers for different store categories every couple of weeks, You receive an email when it's time to choose new offers and there's often additional perks depending on the time of year! See above the Easter email. You usually get to choose 2 out of a choice of 5 offers. Typically these are things like 20% off; bedding, count on us meals, pastries, 'food to go' range, wine or flowers to name but a few.
So there you have it, all you need to do is pick up a card in any store and register it online!

So, the final loyalty scheme that's worth thinking about is the Harvey Nichols Rewards App

This fab app boasts so many exciting benefits, and even if you don't usually shop in Harvey Nics you'll want to with this app! See below the beautiful imagery guide to the app!

Here's how the levels above work;

  • Silver is FREE
  • Gold is unlocked when you hit 250 points!
  • Platinum when you reach 5,000 points!
  • And Black will give you 16 amazing benefits when you earn 10,000 points (Could be a few years for me on that one!)

So that's my 3 favourites! Asos A-list, M&S Sparks and Harvey Nichols Rewards app!I hope you have all been encouraged to join one of them if not them all and start reaping the rewards that the retaillers have to offer their customers in return for your loyalty!

Happy Shopping!
